CNC Turning for Stainless Steel Threaded Shafts

Project profile

Project Profile

This stainless-steel shaft combines stepped diameters, threaded features, bores and mating surfaces in one rotational component.

  • Material: stainless steel;
  • Process: CNC turning with feature-specific inspection;
  • Part type: threaded shaft;
  • Disclosure: customer identity and drawing details withheld.

Manufacturing Challenge

The machining plan must protect the relationship between concentric diameters, threads and mating surfaces. Burrs, thread condition and handling can also affect assembly even when the main diameters are acceptable.

Machining Approach

  • Establish the rotational datum before finishing critical diameters;
  • Check mating fits and thread features during the turning sequence;
  • Define deburring, surface condition and packing from the drawing.

Outcome

The route keeps rotational features referenced through a controlled turning sequence and brings assembly-critical checks into the process rather than leaving them to final inspection alone.

Customer identity, drawing details, order quantity and inspection values are withheld under confidentiality requirements.
