Manufacturing cost programmes
Review of long-term manufacturing cost.
For mature parts with stable specifications, we review the manufacturing route, material selection and batch approach to identify practical manufacturing cost improvements before production — not a price race.
What we review
- Manufacturing route — feature-by-feature review against the drawing and tolerances.
- Material grade and stock form — confirming the cheapest grade that still meets the operating environment.
- Batch approach — combining orders, fixturing and machine utilisation to amortise setup cost.
- Surface finish — moving finishing steps earlier or later in the route where the spec allows.
Every recommendation is tied to a specific change, not a marketing number. We will tell you honestly if no further manufacturing cost improvements are available.
Where manufacturing cost reviews work
- Mature drawings that have not changed in at least two production runs.
- Repeat demand at known annual quantities.
- Parts where total cost (price + logistics + risk) is the comparison metric.
Where manufacturing cost reviews are not appropriate
- First-article parts with no production history yet.
- Parts where the design is still being iterated.
- Programs that prioritise speed above all other factors.
Start a review
Send a mature drawing for a manufacturing cost review.
Include annual quantity and the part's operating environment. Our engineering team will respond with the route, material and batch changes we would propose — and what we would leave alone.
