CNC turning removes material from a rotating workpiece to produce shafts, sleeves, bushings and threaded components. Live-tool or turn-mill operations can add cross-holes and flats; slender parts require a separate review of support and machine suitability.
Typical parts and project fit
This process is considered for shafts, bushings, valve bodies and threaded connectors. Tecpreva reviews the drawing, material condition, quantity and functional requirements before confirming the production route.
Drawing and inspection checklist
Identify diameter, overall length, concentricity, thread standard and slenderness. Supply a revision-controlled 2D drawing, STEP model, finish specification and critical dimensions. Machine positioning accuracy alone does not define achievable part tolerance.
What is the difference between CNC turning and Swiss turning?
Conventional turning usually holds a workpiece in a chuck or collet. Swiss turning supports bar stock near the cut with a guide bushing, which can help small slender parts. Availability and suitability must be confirmed for the actual part.
From first article to repeat production
Agree the fixture and datum strategy, first-article checks, sampling plan and dimensional report scope before production. Record revisions and protect functional surfaces during finishing and packing.
