Manufacturing path

What we control on this route, and how we prove it.

Below is the manufacturing path for this capability: the equipment we run it on, the in-process inspection we apply, and the evidence that ships with the lot. Compare it against your print — if a control is missing from your drawing, we will flag it in the DFM note.

5-axis CNC machining combines three linear axes with two rotary axes to reach angled faces and complex contours with fewer setups. It is useful when features on several faces must stay aligned to a shared datum.

What we make

Common parts made via 5-axis machining

Five-axis machining of a turbine blade

Turbine blades & impellers

Review blade/impeller geometry for rotary clearance, thin-wall distortion and how hub datums transfer between setups. Send the drawing revision, material condition and which airfoil or hub features belong in first-article inspection.

Five-axis medical implant machining

Medical instrument and equipment features

Review angled instrument housings and equipment interfaces for sharp-edge control, cleanability and datum access. Confirm material grade, finish and the inspection points that must be recorded before production.

Aerospace structural bracket on a five-axis trunnion

Aerospace structural brackets

Review multi-face brackets for shared datums, fastener-hole position and finish masking. Identify customer documentation and configuration-control requirements separately from the machining route.

Typical parts and project fit

This process is considered for brackets, impellers, optical mounts and complex housings. Tecpreva reviews the drawing, material condition, quantity and functional requirements before confirming the production route.

Drawing and inspection checklist

Identify tool access, rotary clearance, datum transfer and thin-wall distortion. Supply a revision-controlled 2D drawing, STEP model, finish specification and critical dimensions. Machine positioning accuracy alone does not define achievable part tolerance.

When should I choose 5-axis rather than 3-axis machining?

Choose 5-axis when it improves access or reduces setups for angled and multi-face features. Simple prismatic parts may be more economical on 3-axis machines. The drawing and inspection plan determine the route.

From first article to repeat production

Agree the fixture and datum strategy, first-article checks, sampling plan and dimensional report scope before production. Record revisions and protect functional surfaces during finishing and packing.

Bring a drawing

Send your 5-axis machining drawing for review.

Include geometry that drives this process, material grade, quantity and the inspection points that matter. Engineering sends an initial response within one business day and confirms the proposed route after drawing review.
